Welcome to our Website. The Center for Nonprofit Leadership (CNL) is a mission-driven resource center for public benefit organizations in Nevada County and the Sierra Nevada region of California.
CNL was founded in 2003 as a catalyst to strengthen and sustain our member nonprofit organizations through board and executive leadership development, organizational capacity-building, collaboration, and public accountability. The four pillars of CNL are “best practice” workshops and exchanges, executive seminars, on-site coaching and mentoring, and public advocacy. CNL became a 501 (c) 3 in December 2008.
OUR CHARTER DOCUMENTS
Our Mission: CNL exists to strengthen nonprofit organizations in order to advance the quality of community life.
Our Vision: CNL increases the capabilities and advocacy of our nonprofit organizations in better serving the needs of our community.
Our Purposes: CNL implements our mission and fulfills our vision in five key ways based on annual priorities:
- Education: We strengthen the performance and capabilities of our member nonprofit organizations through “best practice” workshops and exchanges, senior seminars, and on-site coaching and mentoring.
- Resources: We provide technical and other resources for our member nonprofit organizations through the growing services of our Website.
- Collaboration: We promote sharing and collaborative partnerships among our member organizations through Affinity Group Exchanges (“best practice exchanges” in such areas as board development, human resources management), Functional Group Exchanges (regular meetings of staff having similar responsibilities), and special projects (e.g., Funder’s Forums).
- Advocacy: We promote the case for our nonprofit organizations and their value to our community while advocating the highest ethical standards and public accountability for the individual nonprofit organization.
- Cross-sector Partnerships: We co-sponsor community-wide exchanges and collaborative projects that bring together nonprofit, business, service club, education, media, and governmental organizations to engage critical community issues that no single sector can address alone.
